How To Program Your Garage Door Opener

Odyssey® and Destiny®: Program to HomeLink®

Learn how to program HomeLink® to the Odyssey® and Destiny® garage door openers.

HomeLink® is the most widely used car-to-home automation system; millions of HomeLink equipped vehicles are on the road today. HomeLink controls are integrated within the interiors of many vehicles.

Prior to programming, ensure that:

  • all elements of the Odyssey/Destiny systems are properly assembled and installed
  • limits are set
  • force profile is set
  • one button on an existing remote has been programmed to the power head

Please refer to the owner’s manual for your vehicle for specific instructions on programming HomeLink to the garage door opener. You can also visit www.homelink.com and download the specific instructions for your vehicle. Please read through all of the instructions, necessary cautions, and all of the steps involved. Instructions will vary by vehicle manufacturer.

Programming your HomeLink Remote

In general, the procedure is as follows:

On your previously programmed CodeDodgerremote control:

  1. Press and hold one of the unused buttons on your remote for 10 seconds; watch the LED change from green to red-green. Release the button.
  2. Press the same button 2 times. The LED will glow red.

On your HomeLink®control panel in the vehicle:

  1. Refer to your HomeLink instructions for First Time Training.
  2. Press and hold the 2 outer HomeLink buttons for up to 20 seconds. The indicator LED will flash. You have cleared the HomeLink Memory.
  3. Press and hold the HomeLink button that you wish to train. Hold until the LED flashes slowly. Release the button. HomeLink is in training mode.

On your previously programmed CodeDodgerremote control:

  1. Position the CodeDodger remote approximately 3 inches from the HomeLink surface (overhead console, mirror, front bumper, behind a car headlight – be sure to follow the instructions of your vehicle manufacturer).
  2. Press and hold the button programmed to Code Dodger 1. Do not release until the HomeLink indicator LED flashes slowly, then rapidly. When the light flashes rapidly, release the button.

On your HomeLink control panel in the vehicle:

  1. Press and hold the HomeLink button you wish to train. The LED will flash rapidly for 2 seconds, then glow solid.

On the power head:                     

  1. Press and hold the PROGRAM button until both LEDs turn blue.
  2. Release the button. Only the round LED will remain blue.
  3. Press and release the PROGRAM button. The long LED will flash purple.

On your previously programmed CodeDodgerremote control:

  1. Press and hold the button programmed to operate the door. Both LEDs will glow solid purple.

On your HomeLink Control Panel in the vehicle:

  1. Press and hold the trained HomeLink button for 2 seconds and release.
  2. Press and release the HomeLink button again. The remote is now programmed.
  3. Press and release the button again to operate your opener.
