How To Program Your Garage Door Opener

Odyssey® and Destiny®: Program Speed

Learn how to change the speed on the new Overhead Door Odyssey® and Destiny® garage door opener.

The Odyssey and Destiny Overhead Door openers include 3 speed settings. Note that the factory default is the maximum speed.

 

Navigate the Programming Menu

On the power head:                   

  1. Press and hold the square PROGRAM button until both LEDs turn blue.
  2. Release the button. Only the round LED will remain blue.
  3. Press the Up-Open Travel button 2 times. Note both LEDs glow solid blue.
  4. Press the PROGRAM button to enter the Speed program; the short blue LED flashes 3 times.

  1. Next, you will see the current speed setting for the Up-Open travel speed:

3 Levels of Speed

Maximum speed:   Long & Short LEDs glow Solid Red

Medium Speed:      Long & Short LEDs glow Solid Purple

Slow Speed:             Long & Short LEDs glow Solid Blue

  1. Press Down-Close button; 2 solid red LEDs (max speed) change to 2 solid purple LEDs (medium speed).
  2. Press Down-Close button again; 2 solid purple LEDs (medium speed) change to 2 solid blue LEDs (Slow Speed).
  3. Press Down-Close button to toggle through your choices.
  4. Press PROGRAM to confirm your desired Open speed. Long LED will flash blue 3 times, then both LEDs will glow solid in the appropriate color (red, purple, or blue), confirming your selection.

Setting Down-Close travel speed

  1. Press Down-Close button. LEDs will change to show the existing DOWN speed.
  2. Press Down-Close button to toggle through your choices.
  3. Press PROGRAM to confirm your desired Close speed. Both LEDs will flash blue to confirm your setting. Your speed(s) are now programmed.
  4. To test your new settings, press the remote or wall mount button to operate the door. Visually confirm your desired speeds.

 

Note: if you have a one-piece door (sometimes called a Kick Door or California Door), speed is factory set at a slow speed in compliance with UL requirements. These doors can be adjusted to operate even slower; consult your Overhead Door professional for details.
